Death Has Come

20 Hear, O women, the word of the Lord,
and let your ear receive the word of his mouth;
teach to your daughters a lament,
and each to her neighbor a dirge.
21 For death has come up into our windows;
it has entered our palaces,
cutting off the children from the streets
and the young men from the squares.
22 Speak: “Thus declares the Lord,
‘The dead bodies of men shall fall
like dung upon the open field,
like sheaves after the reaper,
and none shall gather them.’”
Jeremiah 9:20-22

Death Has Come
Our sin has caused death to rise up to meet us. There is not one that is good. No, not one of us. Everything evil that we do not want to do, we do. Sin has entered into our homes and into our children's lives. The devil wants it all in ruin. Jesus takes death head on. He comes into the world to meet death for you and me and destroy it. Through Jesus, though every man die, yet shall he live. Though there is no escaping death and all will die, Jesus changes death into a portal to life forever with him. Sin has caused our death. Jesus has won our life. He freely gives it to us.
