Can You Find One?

5 Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem,
look and take note!
                        Search her squares to see
if you can find a man,
                        one who does justice
and seeks truth,
                        that I may pardon her.
            2           Though they say, “As the Lord lives,”
yet they swear falsely.
            3           O Lord, do not your eyes look for truth?
                        You have struck them down,
but they felt no anguish;
                        you have consumed them,
but they refused to take correction.
                        They have made their faces harder than rock;
they have refused to repent.

Can You Find One?
There is no one righteous, no not even one. You can search the highways and the byways, but all you will find is the sinner. You can look in the mirror, and you will see a sinner. Since Adam's fall, all mankind has fallen in sin and death. Your God will not leave you to destruction and death. He comes in the flesh of Mary. There are none righteous, so he becomes a man to impart his righteousness to each of us. You must go outside the city of Jerusalem and there upon a cross is the righteous One who died for you and me. There is his tomb, empty, because his righteousness death could not keep locked up. He sits on the throne of his father, David. This One breaks the hearts of stone and replaces them with hearts that are temples of the Holy Spirit. This One strikes down the Old Adam so that a new man may daily arise and live before God in righteousness and purity forever.
