Declared To You

12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

Declared To You
The Spirit of God does not talk about himself. He has been sent to declare Jesus to you. He has also been sent to give you the treasures of Jesus. The Father gives everything to Jesus. Jesus gives it all to you. Jesus does it by a proclamation. He always ties his Word to the things of the Church. The Means of Grace are Preaching and the Sacraments. Everything that the Church does includes the Word attached to it. The sermon must have the Word of God in it. The Water must have the Word of God in it. The Bread and Wine must have the Word of God in it. And when all these things happen, by the work of the Holy Spirit, Jesus grants his life, title, station, and everything to you. In your hearing the work is done. The Holy Spirit takes what is the Lord Jesus' and declares it to you.
