Revealed in the Cross

9 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Revealed in the Cross
The disciples looked at the man born blind and asked who sinned. Jesus answered that his blindness was not about blame but about God’s works being revealed. In a fallen world, suffering often tempts us to search for reasons, our guilt, another’s fault, or God’s anger. But Jesus points us away from speculation and toward God’s saving purpose. The blindness became the stage for Christ’s mercy to be seen. So also, the cross looked like defeat, a senseless tragedy. Yet there the works of God were most clearly revealed, as Jesus bore our sin and conquered death. In Him, suffering and weakness are not wasted but redeemed. When trials come, we look not for blame but to the crucified Christ, in whom the light of the world shines even in the darkest places. His cross brings healing, forgiveness, and hope.
