True Judge, True Witness

15 You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. 16 Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. 17 In your Law it is written that the testimony of two people is true. 18 I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.”
John 8:15-18

True Judge, True Witness
Jesus reminds us that human judgment is flawed. Our evaluations are often biased, incomplete, and influenced by sin. Even the Law, which convicts us of our sins, is applied imperfectly by fallible people. Yet Christ’s judgment is perfect, for He is sinless and the ultimate standard of truth. He does not judge to condemn unjustly but to redeem through His cross. The Father bears witness to Him, affirming His authority and truth. In Christ, the Law is fulfilled and the penalty of sin fully paid. When we feel accused by our own conscience or by others, we can look to the cross and remember that Jesus has borne the judgment we deserved. We stand justified not by our own righteousness, but by His. Christ is both our witness and our Savior, ensuring that in Him, we are truly known and truly loved.
