Witness to the Truth
33 You sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. 34 Not that the testimony that I receive is from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35 He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.

Witness to the Truth
The Word of God is the foundation of everything we do. God sends this Truth to be proclaimed to his Church. We are people of the Word. The testimony is from the Holy Spirit. The testimony is about the Christ. John the Baptist came to prepare the way for the Christ. He bore witness to this Truth. In everything that we do, this Truth is our bright shining light. The Word declares to you Jesus, who died for your sins and rose again for your justification. It seems odd and out of place, but by a proclamation, by a Word, you are declared alive in Christ and heirs of eternal life. You who once were not a people of God have been made his own children. You have been made a light shining on a hill. The light of Christ shines in your heart.
