43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” 46 Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

“Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Nathaniel asks. But it is the God of heaven that makes things good. Our sin makes things bad. Our rebellion cracks and destroys the perfect creation of God. So, God sends his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ into the flesh to redeem and make new. He makes what is bad, good again. He makes you to be like him. It isn’t the gift that makes the altar holy, but the altar that makes the gift holy, so also it your Lord Jesus and his Holy Spirit that makes you holy. You, too, have found the Christ. He has come looking for you. You found him because he sought you out and found you first. Come and see your Lord and God. Come and taste the goodness of the Lord. Come and rejoice in the Good One that has made you good by his death and resurrection. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is good and he is beautiful.
