Strength in the Presence of Glory

7 And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision, but a great trembling fell upon them, and they fled to hide themselves. 8 So I was left alone and saw this great vision, and no strength was left in me. My radiant appearance was fearfully changed, and I retained no strength. 9 Then I heard the sound of his words, and as I heard the sound of his words, I fell on my face in deep sleep with my face to the ground.
Daniel 10:7-9

Strength in the Presence of Glory

Daniel stood trembling, overwhelmed by a vision of heavenly glory. Though others did not see it, the encounter left him drained, face to the ground, voiceless. Such is the holiness of God’s presence, it exposes human frailty and silences pride. This encounter echoes the fear and awe Isaiah and Ezekiel experienced before the Lord’s glory. But where the Law leaves us undone, the Gospel restores. Christ, who shares this divine glory, did not leave us prostrate in fear. He came down, took on our flesh, bore our sin, and went to the cross. There, the glory of God was veiled in suffering, so sinners like Daniel, and like us, could be lifted up, forgiven, and restored. When the weight of your sin or the chaos of life leaves you speechless and broken, know that Christ speaks peace and gives strength to the weak.
