Confess

4 I prayed to the LORD my God and made confession, saying, “O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 5 we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. 6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
Daniel 9:4-6

Confess
In the name of the Father and the + Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Alleluia! Christ is Risen! The Psalmist reminds us that in confessing our sins, we are relieved of the captivity, “For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.” When we confess our sins, God forgives the iniquity of our sins (Psalm 32). Daniel prays to the living God. He says, “Lord, Lord!” by the work of the Spirit in his heart. You, also, say “Lord!” by the work of the Spirit who is active in your heart and your life. This Spirit is the one that has created faith in your heart and has made you a holy temple for his dwelling. The Lord applies the healing salve of his cross. Jesus dies to take away sin and to grant life to those who deserve to die. He preserves us by his work of love, and he holds us forever in the safety of his embrace. In the name of + Jesus. Amen.
