The Throne of the Righteous King
7 Of the angels he says,
“He makes his angels winds,
and his ministers a flame of fire.”
8 But of the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”
Heb 1:7–9

The Throne of the Righteous King
God declares the superiority of His Son, Jesus Christ, over all creation, even the angels. While angels serve as His messengers and ministering spirits, Christ reigns as King, His throne established forever. His kingdom is marked by righteousness, a scepter of uprightness in contrast to the brokenness of the world. Jesus’ love for righteousness and hatred of wickedness led Him to the cross, where He bore the penalty for our sin. The scepter of His reign is not one of judgment against us but of grace extended to us. Through His death and resurrection, He restores us to the righteousness we cannot achieve on our own. Now ascended and reigning, Christ's kingdom is eternal and unshakable. In Him, we are made heirs of this kingdom. Let us live as His redeemed, loving righteousness and trusting in the cross where our salvation was secured.
