One God, One Lord

4 Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that “an idol has no real existence,” and that “there is no God but one.” 5 For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”— 6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.
1 Corinthians 8:4-6

One God, One Lord
Here we are reminded that while many claim there are multiple gods and lords, for us, "there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist." This confession centers our faith on Christ crucified. The world may tempt us to bow to idols—whether money, success, or self—but we know that these cannot save. The cross of Christ reveals the folly of human idols, for only in His sacrifice do we find true life. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus reconciled us to God, tearing down the false gods that separate us from Him. Let us live in this freedom, knowing that we are sustained by the Father’s love and redeemed by the cross of Christ, our one true Lord and Savior.
