Grace Beyond Measure

6 I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. 7 For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?

Grace Beyond Measure
Paul reminds us not to be puffed up with pride, for everything we have is received by grace. This truth humbles us before the cross, where Christ’s sacrifice reveals the depth of our need and the abundance of God’s mercy. The sacraments anchor us in this reality. In Baptism, we are clothed with Christ’s righteousness, not by our doing but by His gracious act. In the Lord’s Supper, we receive Christ’s body and blood, a gift that sustains our faith and keeps us in communion with Him. As we reflect on our lives, we realize that nothing is truly ours but is given by the One who gave Himself for us. May we live in humility, constantly reminded that all we have is from the Lord, and respond with gratitude for His boundless grace shown to us through the cross and delivered in His sacraments.
