Children of Promise

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring. For this is what the promise said: “About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.”

Children of Promise
The Lord gives his Word. It is how he created. It is how he saves. It is how he sustains you. He is the God of Promise and you are the Children of Promise. God is always good for his promise. He always keeps his Word. Through the promise you are counted as offspring for Abraham. You are made children of God by the blood of the promised Word made flesh. So some of the descendants of Abraham have forsaken their position. God has grafted you into their place. He did it with a word, "I baptize you in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen." That is the promise of your God that the cross of Jesus and the resurrection of Jesus are now your death and your resurrection, too. You are counted as his own. You are showered with his love and grace. And you have one more promise. He will come again for you. He comes soon. Amen.
