He also said to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once, ‘A shower is coming.’ And so it happens. And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and it happens. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?

Seeing is Believing
“If only God would show Himself like He did in the days of the Bible, then I would believe.” This is the thought of many people today. They hear of the miracles preformed in the Bible and convince themselves that if they saw a miracle like that then they would believe. The problem with this way of thinking is that many people of Jesus' day saw the miracles and did not believe. And even today we see water and the Word create and sustain faith. We see ordinary bread and wine turned into the body and blood of Christ for our salvation and yet many refuse to believe. Jesus condemns the unbelief of those beholding His miraculous signs who yet reject the obvious implications. Satan blinds the hearts of unbelievers even to this day. Only by God’s grace can we see clearly, as the Spirit opens our eyes through faith in Jesus Christ. May we always see with eyes of faith the miraculous blessings poured out for us each day.
