From the Roof Tops

In the meantime, when so many thousands of the people had gathered together that they were trampling one another, he began to say to his disciples first, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.

Many religions of the world and fraternal organizations depend on secrets and hidden truths to lure people. The ways of the sinful flesh rely on hiding our sins and dwelling in the darkness of this life. That heart thinks, “If I can hide my sin, then I can do what I want and I don’t have to worry about hurting anyone.” But our sin is connected. There are no secrets with the Living God. He does not reveal more things the deeper you get, or the more money you donate, or the more friends that you have. At your Baptism, he gives you everything. You have the forgiveness of Christ’s cross and life and salvation in him. There he wraps you in the righteousness of Jesus and counts you as his own child. The message of Jesus’ cross shall be heard. There will be no force on earth that can keep it from being proclaimed. The gates of hell shall not prevail over the Kingdom of God. Thanks be to God that he has given us the full work of his salvation and has gathered us to himself.
