Silence the Devil

32 As they were going away, behold, a demon-oppressed man who was mute was brought to him. 33 And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds marveled, saying, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.” 34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.”
Matthew 9:32–34

Silence the Devil
A man is oppressed by a demon and unable to speak. When Jesus drives out the demon, the man speaks, and the crowds marvel. Yet the Pharisees respond with blasphemy, attributing Christ’s work to the prince of demons. The contrast is striking: those in need recognize the Savior’s mercy, while those who should know better reject Him. Jesus has come to destroy the devil’s works and to release those held captive by sin and death. His authority over demons is not merely a display of power; it points toward His greater victory at the cross. There, Christ bore the judgment our sins deserve and crushed the devil’s accusations against us. The resurrection declares that Satan’s reign has been broken. Do not fear the devil’s accusations. Christ is stronger. His Word gives freedom, His blood cleanses sinners, and His victory is yours through faith. Cling to Him.
