Speak Truth
10 “Go up through her vine rows and destroy,
but make not a full end;
strip away her branches,
for they are not the Lord’s.
11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah
have been utterly treacherous to me,
declares the Lord.
12 They have spoken falsely of the Lord
and have said, ‘He will do nothing;
no disaster will come upon us,
nor shall we see sword or famine.
13 The prophets will become wind;
the word is not in them.
Thus shall it be done to them!’”

Speak Truth
The Word of the Lord defines the Christian life. It is the foundation, the identification, the nourishment for the fight. The Bible tells us that the Word of the Lord endures forever when everything else fades and decays. To depart from that Word is dangerous and deadly. The Houses of Israel and Judah had departed from God's Word. Speaking lies do not make them true. The devil has tried this ever since the Garden of Eden. If the Word of God is not in the prophets and pastors of the church, the Lord is not in them. The Holy Spirit always operates by the means of Preaching and Sacraments. He does so, not because he has to, but because he has chosen to. So, the preaching of the Church brings the work of Jesus into your presence. The Means of Grace wrap you in the righteousness of Jesus and clothe you with him. This Word of God is your very life. Do not depart from it. Rejoice in the gift that you have been given and gladly hear and learn it.
