12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

The Narrow Way of Christ
Jesus teaches us to treat others as we would have them treat us. Yet this commandment exposes our sin. We are quick to demand patience, kindness, and forgiveness from others, while withholding these very things from our neighbors. God's Law leaves no room for self-righteousness. It reveals our need for a Savior. The narrow way is not a path we walk to earn God's favor. Our salvation rests not in our goodness, but in Christ's mercy. Yet Christ has walked this way before us. He bore the cross, suffered for our sins, and conquered death. He Himself is the Way, and through faith in Him, we receive the life His death and resurrection have won for us. Freed by His grace, we love our neighbors, bearing their burdens and forgiving as we have been forgiven. The narrow way is walked in repentance and faith, sustained by Christ's Word and Sacraments.
