Lord, to Whom Shall We Go?

68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.” 71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray him.

Lord, to Whom Shall We Go?
When many turned away from Jesus, Peter confessed, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Faith clings to Christ alone, even when His words offend the world or trouble our sinful hearts. Peter didn’t fully understand everything, but he knew life was found only in Jesus. At the cross, this becomes crystal clear. There, Christ bore our sin, our doubts, and even our rebellion, speaking forgiveness when we deserved judgment. Like Peter, we often falter, yet the Spirit keeps drawing us back to the crucified and risen Lord. No one else speaks life into our death. No one else forgives and restores. In Christ’s cross, we find the life Peter confessed, life given freely to sinners who have nowhere else to turn but the Savior who never turns them away.
