One Way
47 If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.”

One Way
There is only one way to eternal life. The Lord Jesus is the only way. The world wants multiple highways. All other roads lead to judgment. The trouble is that heaven is not heaven if Jesus is not there. We even sing in one of the church’s beloved hymns, “Yea, heaven itself were void and bare if Thou, Lord, wert not near me.” (LSB 708:1) The Word has become flesh and come for you. He comes not to condemn the world, but to save it by his own cross and passion. He saves you by shedding his blood and rising again. This is the Father’s will. He told the Son and the Son has accomplished this great work for you. Jesus bids you come on the One way to eternal life. Jesus has you in the palm of his hand.
