Always Jesus

25 Now a discussion arose between some of John’s disciples and a Jew over purification. 26 And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you bore witness—look, he is baptizing, and all are going to him.”
John 3:25-26

Always Jesus
A dispute arose between John’s disciples and a Jew about purification. In their zeal, they came to John, worried that Jesus was drawing more followers. But John pointed them to the heart of the matter: it was never about him. It was always about the Christ who would take away the sin of the world. How often do we fall into the same trap, making our faith about our achievements, our church programs, or our reputation? Like John, we must learn to say, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” The true purification comes not by our efforts, but by the blood of Jesus shed on the cross for us. Through Baptism, God washes us clean, connecting us to Christ’s death and resurrection. Rejoice that your standing before God rests not on your merit but on Christ crucified. Let your life point others away from yourself and always to Him.
