Witness to the Light

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.
9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

John 1:6-9

Witness to the Light
God sent John the Baptist with a singular purpose: to bear witness to the Light, that all might believe through him. John was not the Light but pointed ahead to the One who is, Jesus, the true Light who gives light to everyone. In a world darkened by sin, confusion, and death, Christ shines with the brightness of God’s mercy and truth. This Light is not vague inspiration or moral clarity, it is the incarnate Son of God, who went to the cross for sinners. There, in seeming darkness and defeat, the Light of the world accomplished His greatest work: the forgiveness of sins and victory over death. Like John, we too are sent to bear witness, to point others not to ourselves, but to Christ crucified and risen. In Him, the darkness cannot overcome us. We walk in the Light as we cling to His cross and confess His name.
